Meet our Governing Board.....

Miss Kirsty Goldsmith - Headteacher

As part of my responsibilities as the Headteacher, I am a member of the governing board. Over the school year, we meet up regularly to consider the strategic aspects impacting Edleston Primary and our students. Our focus is very much us all having clarity of the vision, ethos and strategic direction for the future of the school for the benefit of the students.

In this role, I keep the board informed about the strengths of the school and any areas for improvement. We work together to deliver the school development plan, finance and to ensure the school is running to the very best of its ability. Through the day-to-day management of the school, I implement the strategic priorities of the governing board.

The role of any governor is to support and challenge the school leaders.

STAFF GOVERNOR - Mrs Claire Goodall

I started at Edleston 2 years ago as the school cook but have been a cook within Cheshire East for the last 9 years. I've loved the sense of community within the school and have really enjoyed getting to know the children.

When the role of staff governor came up I was really interested as I see it as a way of getting even more involved with the school, which is something I'm very passionate about.

When I'm not in the school kitchen, I'm quite often in my kitchen at home, as I greatly enjoy making bread and baking in my spare time.

Mr John Simpson

Co-opted Governor

I am a retired Police Officer and former Learning Mentor at Edleston Primary School. Originally from Lancaster, I relocated to Crewe in 1978. I have a wealth of experience in the Education sector and feel I can contribute greatly to the Governing Board. I am a keen walker. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends.

Mr Niall McGregor - Co-opted Governor

This is my first role as a primary school governor, and I am very much looking forward to supporting Edleston Primary School in any way I can.

Throughout my career, I have worked and volunteered in roles focused on supporting children and young people. Previously, I led the local School Sports Partnership, which gave me a strong understanding of the local education landscape and enabled many young people to access a wide range of positive opportunities.

More recently, as a local secondary school teacher, I have gained valuable insight into the context of education within our community and the experiences of young people as they progress through their schooling.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, keeping up with our two young children, and volunteering to support some of their activities.

Mrs Agnieszka Hac - Parent Governor

I’m a mum to a beautiful girl, currently a pupil at Edleston Primary. In my current job role, I payroll hours and sort problems to ensure everybody is paid correctly; dealing with different languages/cultures. I have a very strong ethical stance and values. I believe that every child should have the opportunity to learn in a happy, fun, organised and a structured way.

Mr Steven Tew - Co-opted Governor

I am a hard-working Accountant that manages a finance team for a National Distributor in Crewe.

I love spending time with my family. I enjoy walking, cycling, motorcycling and car track days.

I wanted to become a governor so that I can have a positive impact on the direction of Edleston Primary School.

Mrs Joanne Davies - Co-Chair of Governors

I am a mum of three children, now all at secondary school and have worked in the marketing industry for 22 years. I have experience across a variety of sectors including Tourism, DIY, Industrial Gases and currently work for an Education charity.

I have volunteered for a variety of organisations, including the MCHT Charitable Trust, the NCT, the Scouts and more recently mentored a teenager in an inner city school for 12 months.

I believe that working together with the children, staff, parents and the community will have the greatest impact on the children and their future. I am a passionate mental health and wellbeing advocate and believe that all children and young people should have access to the same opportunities and chances in life and learning. I look forward to being an active member of the governing board and helping to positively impact the continuous improvement of the school.

Mrs Cheryl Jackson - LA Governor, Co- Chair of Governors

My name is Cheryl Jackson and I am a Co-opted appointed Governor. This is my first role as a Governor, and I am really looking forward to working with the School.

My relationship with the School started 3 years ago when I was appointed as the Clerk to the Governors. I feel very privileged to be able to continue my work with the School as a Governor and I am deeply committed to ensuring the best outcomes for the children at Edleston.

In terms of my professional background, I have worked in the Finance, Education and Health sectors in operations and administration roles, and I am currently employed by Cheshire East as a Senior Clerk. Previously I worked as a Student Services Manager at a local High School and my responsibilities included safeguarding, behaviour, and pastoral care.

I live locally and I am married with three children (all grown up). I enjoy the outdoors and love watching rugby !
