Evergreens

Welcome to Evergreens!

Evergreens is our exciting new base for additional support for some of our learners. Children in Evergreens are taught by Mrs Astles in the morning. We have lots of staff to support our learners too. Mrs Tomkinson, Miss Haycroft and Miss Hicks.

Evergreens was inspired by the complex needs of some of our children who find being in a class of 30 children overwhelming for a whole day. Children access the curriculum for their own year group following a total communication approach and allows time for individuals to learn at a pace which they need to enable them to thrive. It is built on a sensory curriculum and allows children to be regulated before they are educated.

The Evergreens day is deliberately repetitive and predictable to secure routines and aid regulation. Unexpected changes are supported through the consistent use of visuals. Each activity is separated by a movement break. This helps our bodies prepare for the next focused activity.

When we arrive each day, we begin with Funky Fingers to help us to regulate and practice fine motor skills. This is followed by sensory circuit to get our bodies moving and get us ready to learn. We then have Bucket time, learning time and lots of messy play. We love being outdoors, especially in our Discovery Garden and super mud kitchen.
