Dear Parents,

We are looking forward to returning to some kind of normality in September and to welcoming all the children back to school. Please read the information below so that you know the new rules and routines.  Please understand that we need parents to stick to these to help us to keep the school safe for our pupils and staff.

PLEASE NOTE IF YOU HAVE MORE THAN ONE CHILD AT THE SCHOOL WE WILL CALL YOU AND LET YOU KNOW DROP OFF AND PICK UP TIMES SO THAT YOU DO NOT HAVE TO KEEP COMING BACK TO SCHOOL.

We have had to stagger the times to ensure safety of pupils and staff.  Please line up outside the main playground gate at the time above. Please keep the 1M+ distance by standing on the marked red lines and line up in front of the offices leading onto the car park. When you have dropped your child off through the playground gate, you will then need to continue round and out onto the road through the main pedestrian gate [please note that this will be the opposite way to the way we are lining up now, due to higher number of parents and children].  Your child’s class teacher will be at the gate and the children will line up in their class bubble on the playground.  We ask that you are prompt and stick to these times please as we need to get all the children in safely and quickly.  At the end of the day please follow the same system-ie line up outside the playground gate in front of the offices at least 1 M apart [on the red lines].

Parents are not to enter the school building or playgrounds without making an appointment first. Thank you.

Children must wear normal school uniform.  They can bring a coat, their lunch bag, a water bottle and a bag.  These will be kept in their lockers.  The children will have their own pencils, pens etc at school and these, along with their books, will be kept in a drawer underneath their desk.  The children will wash their hands every time they enter or leave the school, before and after any food and regularly throughout the day. This is because coronavirus is an easy virus to kill when it is on the skin.

Children will bring their reading book home every Monday, please return these to school every Friday so they can be left over the weekend so they are safe to use the following Monday.  Homework, including spellings will still be given out.

On your child’s PE day please can they come to school in their PE kit to avoid changing at school.  This needs to be the school coloured PE T-shirt, black or blue PLAIN joggers or school shorts [if it is warm] and their school jumper or cardigan and trainers.  All classes have PE on a Thursday, except for reception and Y2 who will have PE on a Wednesday.

As you will know attendance is compulsory from September.  If your child is unwell it is ESSENTIAL that you call school before 8.30 on 01270 685770, to let us know why they will not be in school.  If your child has any COVID symptoms; a new, continuous cough or a high temperature, or who has a loss of, or change in, their normal taste or smell they MUST self isolate for 7 days and you MUST make sure that they have the test.  We will need to see evidence of this before we admit them back into school.  Other members of the household will need to self isolate for 14 days.

If the test comes back negative please let school know and your child can come back to school and all members of the household can stop self isolating.

If the test is positive you must let school know.  Your child then needs to self isolate for 7 days from when they first had symptoms. The rest of the household must self isolate for 14 days.  School will then contact the local health protection team and will take advice from them.

Please ensure that school has an up to date phone number that we can contact you on and please make sure your phone is switched on during the school day.  This is extremely important as if a child develops symptoms we will need to send them home immediately.

The children will be in class bubbles, and will not be mixing with other bubbles.  There will be staggered break and lunch times and the children, except for reception, will be eating in their own classrooms.  There will be no whole school assemblies or school trips or end of term concerts, which is just so sad.

There are a high number of parents who are still not on dojo, where all the home school learning has been set.  If you are not on dojos yet could you please let your child’s class teacher know so that we can get you set up.  In the event of any child self isolating, or any bubble self isolating this is where the remote learning will be, and it is important that you do this with your child / children.

If you have any questions could you please email me on head@edleston.cheshire.sch.uk or send me a dojo message or call me on 01270 685770.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs R Bagni
