‘Excellence, Perseverance, Success’

Autumn Newsletter

Dear Parents,

I hope that you all had an amazing summer break.  Although the weather wasn’t brilliant, and we couldn’t really go anywhere, it was so nice to have light mornings and evenings!

Below are just a few bits of information for you and dates for the term;

It is important that your child attends school every day, unless they are ill. Leave of absence for holidays will only be granted in exceptional circumstances.  If the leave of absence isn’t an exceptional circumstance then it will be unauthorised, which may lead to a fixed penalty fine which will be issued by the Local Authority.  The fine is £60.00 per parent, per child if paid within the first 21 days.  If it is paid between 21 and 28 days it is £120.00 per parent per child and after 28 days the case is taken to court if the fine isn’t paid.  Please make sure that you book any holidays in school holiday time.  Please look on our website for term dates, or pop into the office.

Children will get a late mark if they arrive in school once the registers are closed at 9.00 and their mark will be unauthorised.  Please make sure that your children are at school before the register is taken at 9.00.  School opens at 8.45.  Children are not supervised on the playground before this time, so please wait with your child if you arrive before then.

Children are expected to wear sensible black shoes for school.  Trainers are not permitted at any time.  Please help us to teach your children that they have to follow rules, and that part of being in our school community and eventually being an adult is to follow these rules.  Jewellery is not permitted.  If your child has pierced ears then they need to wear studs for school.  These will need to be taped up for any PE lessons for health and safety reasons. All uniform is available to order on our website.  Please make sure that your child has the correct PE kit, again this is available on our website.

Please make sure that you are connected to class dojo as all information is on here.  Please check school dojo too as information for the whole school goes on here.  If you need any help please ask your child’s class teacher.  Please also remember the school website where you can check what is for dinner, look at photos, look at what the expectations are for learning in each class.  It is really useful!

If you have any queries about SIMs pay please contact Mrs Green on officemanager@edleston.cheshire.sch.uk or call school on 01270 910325.  If you have any worries about your child, in the first instance, please speak to the class teacher.  If you are still not happy please come and have a chat with me.

If you click on the class page on our website you will see what your child will be learning during the year.  Below are also the expectations for learning their times tables, so please help them with these at home as much as you can.

Times tables expectations.

Year Group

This is what your child should be able to recite and use

Children should be able to count in 1’s and 2’s.

Year 1

Children should count in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s

Year 2

Children should recall and use multiplication facts for the 2, 5 and 10 multiplication tables.

Year 3

Dinners are still £2.30. We cannot accept cash at school so please pay for snack, dinner, trips etc using SIMs pay 360.  Mrs Green will re send the information on how to pay as you need to make sure you do not pay for dinners under snack!

Please make sure that you call us every day that your child is off sick.  If they have been sick they need to stay away from school for 48 hours, so that it does not spread through the school!  Thank you.

It is vital that you give us an up to date number so that we can get in touch with you if your child is sick or has an accident and please keep your phone switched on! Thank you.
